This is Naru's face after base coating with a flesh paint.
The cheeks were
highlighted with a tint of blush by mixing the
flesh tone paint with pink to provide a slightly redder
look. The highlighting was done with the airbrush.
After the cheeks were colored a light coat of a slightly
whitened flesh was sprayed over the cheeks to blend the colors. |

This is the face after the whites of the eyes are painted.
Gloss white paint has been used for high reflectivity. You
can see how digital photo colors can be quite deceptive.
This picture and the one above were taken in the same place but at
different times and with different lighting. |

These are the eyes after the iris has been painted.
The color is a basic gloss light brown. Using a dry brush I
scattered flecks of gold leaf trim on the brown, but this is difficult
to see in this picture. The gold highlights tend to
break up the monotony of a single colored iris. |

The dark pupils of the eyes have now been painted, black highlights have been
drawn around the eyes,
and the eye lashes and eye brows have been positioned. The facial
characteristics are becoming better defined. I used a .005
black marker to draw the lines and you can see where my hand
slipped as I was drawing the left eyelash. |

The next step is to add white highlights to the
eye. There is a primary dot in the upper left corner
and a secondary reflection in the lower right corner. The tongue has also been painted a light pink
color. The paint on the tongue did not quite come out to the
edges and this is corrected later. |

Just for fun, I placed the hair pieces on top of the
head to see the overall effect. You can see how the hair is
being worked on to fill holes and correct flaws. The hair
seems to sit too high on the head and I will try to correct this
during final assembly. |

This is the final result. Using a spotter
brush and a magnifying glass I corrected tiny defects in the eyes
and face. I painted over the flawed eyelash line to fix it and
also carefully enhanced the edges of the tongue with a slightly
redder color. I also expanded the size of the left iris and
repaired the black border lines. |
